Does anyone have any further details or a better estimate for the Safeway and new shopping center?? The sign says August 2009 but I highly doubt that?

Any details would be greatly appreciated because Fry's is way to packed!

I have heard that safeway has pulled out and that there will still be shopes but no grocery store. I would like to know if that is true for sure though.

check out this website. http://www.harpelco.com/properties/mercadodellago.html
It has been updated indicating that Safeway will open in the first quarter of 2010. I hope it happens

Now it says 4th quarter of 2010. Hopefully, the developer and Safeway can see past the economic noise to see an undeserved and captive community. Also, the fact that if they build this center it help complete the buildout of the community to lease out the retail pads. Who wants to drive 8-10 miles to goto the grocery store?

I was informed by someone who wishes to remain anonymous, that the soil samples taken at the site failed the compression test. There will be no building there until the soil samples pass. The cost of re-working that land apparently supercedes the value of the land at this time. When the market picks up again, then it is a win-win for fixing the problem. Right now it is an investment that doesn't match the available market structures in our area.
